At the committee hearings in Zhytomyr, the Deputy Minister of Agricultural Policy and Food of Ukraine Vitaly Holovnya noted that Polissia is a guarantor of food security for Ukraine, because the region provides about 10% of the total gross agricultural production, is a leader in the production of oats (more than 45% of the total Ukraine) and buckwheat (30%).

«In the Zhytomyr region, animal husbandry, fish farming, organic production, hop growing and flax growing have traditionally been widely developed. Also, before the beginning of the large-scale war, the region was one of the main suppliers of vegetable products for Ukraine. All these directions are in demand and will remain promising for the development of agriculture in the future,» the minister emphasized.

Also, at the committee hearings, it was emphasized that the agricultural sector of Zhytomyr Oblast continues to develop thanks to the efforts of farms and agricultural enterprises, which, despite military challenges, economic problems and risks, work to ensure food security in Ukraine.
