Export of Ukrainian dairy products

Exports of Ukrainian dairy products during 2023 showed resilience, despite the difficult conditions caused by the full-scale war. According to the State Statistics Service, in 2023 Ukraine exported 200,000 tons of dairy products for a total of $500 million. USA.

The main export products remain:

— Raw materials: 100,000 tons worth 300 million dollars. USA;
— Butter: 50,000 tons worth 100 million dollars. USA;
— Milk powder: 30,000 tons worth 70 million dollars. USA;
— Canned milk: 20,000 tons worth $30 million. USA.

The main importers of Ukrainian dairy products are:

-EU: 60% of exports;
-Asia: 20% of exports;
— Africa: 10% of exports;
— CIS: 10% of exports.

The war caused certain challenges for the export of Ukrainian dairy products, such as:

-Logistics problems: closure of ports and damage to transport infrastructure;
-Destruction of production facilities;
-Rising prices: for energy resources and raw materials.

The Government of Ukraine takes measures to support the export of dairy products:

— Reimbursement of a part of export costs;
— Simplification of export procedures;
— Support for the opening of new markets.

Experts predict that in 2024, the export of Ukrainian dairy products may increase to 250,000 tons.

An important condition for this is:
-Restoration of seaports;
— Improvement of logistics;
— Increase in milk production.

The export of dairy products is an important component of the Ukrainian economy. Thanks to the efforts of the government and farmers, Ukrainian dairy products will continue to be supplied to world markets, providing Ukraine with foreign exchange earnings and supporting world food security.
