This month, the price of live pigs ready for slaughter continued to decrease, analysts from the «Swine Farmers of Ukraine» association report.
Thus, the average price for live pork fell by 3-4% compared to last week and is currently 77 hryvnias for 1 kilogram, although in some regions it reaches 79 hryvnias, the lowest price is recorded in the western regions of the country at 75 hryvnias, due to which the price decreases in other regions as well.
Due to lower prices in the West, the market for chilled pork is also forming, which greatly increases the competition between suppliers and producers throughout the country. But experts note that the situation is currently very unstable due to price expectations. Also, a certain number of producers say that they began to observe signs of seasonal weakening and a decrease in the number of products on the market and the average weight of animals due to unfavorable weather conditions. Due to this, already in the next month, the price may start to rise on the contrary.
