Since the beginning of this week, the price of onions in Ukraine began to decrease due to a decrease in demand for products and partial imports from Asian countries.
Thus, since the beginning of the year, the average price has decreased by 14%. If today on store shelves, onions cost UAH 19-26 per kilogram, depending on the quality of the products. At the end of December, the lowest price was within UAH 23/kg.
The price is falling due to a decrease in demand, as companies and stores bought products even before the holidays and formed a certain volume that they did not have time to sell. Part of the products is in warehouses that were not intended for this purpose, so farmers are gradually reducing the cost for the gradual sale of products.
However, experts report that high-quality onions have become almost 3 times more expensive than they were at the end of 2021. In addition, after the New Year holidays, the positive dynamics of vegetable price growth will continue and even accelerate.
