Farmers have started selling cucumbers from the new season, EastFruit experts report. It is worth noting that the products began to appear little by little a week ago, but today there are much more cucumbers on the market, but the supply still does not exceed the demand.
Due to this situation and really high demand, Ukrainian farmers are now selling products at a price from UAH 120 to UAH 160 per kilogram ($3.30-4.40/kg). To compare, cucumbers currently imported from Turkey cost 100-120 UAH/kg ($2.7-3.26/kg), almost 40-60 UAH cheaper. Experts explain that such a difference in price is due to the fact that our products are really of higher quality and the costs of growing this crop have increased significantly recently.
Despite the warm winter, the cucumber sales season started later than last year, then already at the beginning of February it was possible to buy a cucumber that cost 35-40% more than now.
