Since the beginning of this week, farmers from the western regions of our country have started selling berries grown in open ground. In fact, the sale of berries began at the beginning of May, but it was exclusively strawberries from greenhouses, the cost of which reached 190 hryvnias per kilogram, experts from the EastFruit platform note.
Analysts also note that this year the sale of berries that were grown in open ground started later due to unfavorable weather conditions in the spring, in comparison with last year, by this time, almost all regions of our country have already started selling strawberries, but only the western regions.
But due to the later sales season, the cost of products began to decrease rapidly. Today, a kilogram of strawberries can be purchased for 52-85 hryvnias, which is almost one and a half times less than last week.
Despite these factors, the current price of strawberries is still almost 26% higher than during the same period in 2022.
