01.05.2023 12:34

The first harvest of tomatoes from Ukrainian farmers began to gradually appear on the market this week, according to experts from the EasyFruit project.

So far, the number of products appearing is not large enough, and the price for 1 kilogram of products starts at 71 hryvnias. up to UAH 85 (approximately $1.92-$2.33/kg) and this is approximately 24% less than for the same period last year.

According to Ukrainian farmers, the first significant batches will be able to enter the market at least from the beginning of May, it should also be noted that this season, companies selling this product started selling it half a month later than last year. Also, the favorable weather last week significantly accelerated the ripening of vegetables from the greenhouses.

Currently, there is also a tomato on the market that was imported from abroad, namely from Turkey, and currently it is the largest number on the shelves of our supermarkets. The price of Turkish tomatoes is much lower than the price of our domestic products, for example, 1 kilogram costs from UAH 54-70 ($1.5-$1.9/kg), which is almost 27% less than last week.
