Ukraine can become the leader of the biomethane boom in Europe

13.10.2022 12:24

Over the last decade, developed countries have been increasingly moving in the direction of transition from natural fuel to ecological fuel, namely biomethane. Biomethane obtained from one hectare of corn silage has 3-4 times more energy than liquid biofuels. In addition, biomethane can be used to generate electricity, as a transport fuel and as a raw material for the chemical industry.

Currently, Ukraine is only at the stage of familiarization with the new field of renewable energy, while European countries are developing in this field and increasing the production of biomethane in their countries. Germany and France are leaders in the number of biomethane plants.

The fact that the pace of increasing biomethane production is increasing, forces Ukraine to join the biomethane boom as soon as possible. In addition, 70% of our territory is agricultural land, which is the largest amount of raw materials for biomethane production in Europe.

Experts point out that we can export biomethane to the EU through existing gas pipelines and for this there is no need to invest in updating or creating additional infrastructure.
