Experts noted that the price of eggs will decrease from the beginning of March, but due to the holidays, in particular Easter, and the sending of products abroad, the prices did not decrease, Ukrainian farmers report.
The decrease in cost was expected due to the fact that the number of birds has finally recovered after a rapid decrease in the population last year due to the attack of the aggressor country, and new chickens have already started to lay.
Since the beginning of March this year, farmers began to increase the price of products. Half a month before Easter, the price of eggs became 56-70 hryvnias per dozen. This price was determined by the small number of products on our market. But right after the holidays, the price dropped sharply to 30 hryvnias, but packaged eggs remained within 51-60 hryvnias.
Representatives of trade networks note that during this period, many eggs were sent abroad, and due to this, it was impossible to reduce the cost of products.
Thus, according to customs data, from the beginning of this year to April, our country sent approximately 16,000 tons of eggs worth approximately $23.5 million, the Netherlands and Poland were the main importers of these products.
