Taking into account the climatic conditions in 2024/25 MY, sugar production in Ukraine will be 1.7-1.8 million tons.
This was reported in an article in the journal «The Ukrainian Farmer» by the director of the National Processing Center «Sugar production», a member of the Committee of the Agricultural Industry at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Ukraine Oleksandr Korotinsky.
According to him, according to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, the area planted with sugar beet this year does not exceed 250,000 hectares, which is almost at the level of last year.
«The average yield of sweet roots from the harvested areas is 46 t/ha, which also corresponds to last year's indicators. The best crops are harvested in the West of Ukraine, where the weather conditions were more favorable. Fewer root crops per hectare are collected in the central regions of the country, in particular, in Poltava region, Cherkasy region, and Vinnytsia region. However, there is a somewhat higher level of sugar content, although it does not cover the difference in productivity» — Oleksandr Korotynskyi said.
