Unfavorable conditions for the growth of late crops persisted during the 1st and 2nd decade of August. Lack of rainfall led to insufficient soil moisture and delayed the formation of late agricultural crops. The end and beginning of the second and third decades of August were again hot and almost without rainfall. That's what the NAAS analytical report says.
Average temperatures ranged from 21.2°C to 26.1°C above freezing and from 2.8°C to 7.6°C above normal. On the hottest days, the maximum temperature was 30-35.7°C. On the coldest nights, the lowest temperature dropped to 14-24°C. The average soil temperature at a depth of 5 cm was 21.1°C.
There were also small precipitations, but locally. According to the scientific institute of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences, only 0.6 mm fell in the Kiev region, but not in the Odessa, Zhytomyr, Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, Lviv and Vinnytsia regions.
