Since the middle of March, Ukraine has recorded a decrease in the demand prices of oil refineries for sunflower seeds.
The development of this trend is mainly caused by the decrease in the export price of sunflower oil. In addition, the activity of oil processing enterprises to purchase seeds of this crop has decreased. It should be noted that spring field work in the country has entered an active phase, and market operators expected that this would contribute to an increase in the supply of seeds, as agricultural producers would need replenishment of working capital. However, trading activity remained low, and farmers often preferred to limit oil sales or, in some cases, sell it under export contracts.
Thus, during the specified period, demand prices for oil fell by UAH 2,100-2,700/t, or by 12-16%, and as of March 29, they were mostly announced within the range of UAH 12,500-15,500/t.
