Last year, Ukraine harvested the smallest crop of peas

09.05.2023 12:28

Due to the full-scale invasion launched by the country's aggressor, our country lost a significant number of fields on which peas were previously grown, due to which the crop of this crop fell significantly, reports the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine.

We are talking about regions that previously had a record for pea yield, namely Mykolaiv region, Zaporizhzhya, Kharkiv region and Donetsk region. Due to the war, the yield of these regions has almost halved compared to 2021 and is approximately 272 thousand tons, which is the lowest indicator for 2011.

For example, if in 2021 approximately 64,000 tons of peas were harvested in the Zaporizhzhia region, then in the following year there was no harvest at all. The same can be said about Donetsk and Kherson regions, where in 2021 23 thousand tons were collected and 17 thousand tons, then in 2022 this indicator is 0. In Kharkiv region and Mykolaiv region, the indicators decreased by approximately half.
