The cost of young potatoes is currently 10 times higher than the cost of potatoes from last year's harvest. It should also be noted that other early vegetables are not so expensive and there is no price gap, experts from the AgroTimes platform report.
For example, at the largest market in western Ukraine in Lviv «Shuvar», the price of young potatoes is within 46-55 UAH. for 1 kilogram, at the same time the price of potatoes from last season is roughly 5 hryvnias for 1 kilogram.
Also, in comparison, the price of young cabbage is now approximately UAH 54/kg, cabbage that was harvested last year costs UAH 39-40 per kilogram. Carrots from last season now cost UAH 40/kg. The price of onions is now in the range of 42-44 UAH/kg, and beetroot costs 8-9 UAH/kg. Garlic currently costs UAH 110/kg.
At the same time, in many parts of the country, farmers have already started cutting asparagus, the cost of which today is approximately UAH 300/kg.
