In its July report, MARS revised its yield forecasts for most EU crops downward and for wheat upward, reports GrainTrade.
Experts expect that this year's late crop yield will be lower than the five-year average due to the dry and hot weather in Southeastern Europe.
Therefore, the yield forecast was lowered compared to the June forecast:
- Corn yield decreased from 7.55 t/ha to 7.24 t/ha, which is 2% below the five-year average (7.35 t/ha);
- Rape — from 3.16 t/ha to 3.1 t/ha (3.17 t/ha);
- Barley yield from 5.14 t/ha to 5.09 t/ha, which is 3% higher than the five-year average of 4.93 t/ha;
- Sunflower — from 2.2 t/ha to 2.09 t/ha, which is 2% less than the average for the last five years.
At the same time, the soft wheat yield forecast in the EU was raised from 5.86 t/ha to 5.87 t/ha, which corresponds to the five-year average.
