Ukrainian producers of greenhouse cucumbers this week raised the selling prices of their products. At the same time, the prices of these vegetables have doubled compared to the same period last year. EastFruit reports that.
Currently, greenhouse plants of Ukraine publish prices for cucumbers in the range of UAH 45-60/kg (USD 1.09-1.46/kg), which is on average 12% higher than last weekend.
According to market participants, the upward trend in prices depends on several factors. Firstly, this is a consequence of a much more limited supply of cucumbers on the market, as open ground produce is no longer sold. In addition, not all greenhouse combines have started harvesting the second crop of cucumbers yet, and the sample is quite small due to the cool and cloudy weather.
As a result, greenhouse cucumbers are now on average twice as expensive on the Ukrainian market compared to the same period last year. Moreover, many market players do not rule out the possibility of further price increases for these products due to high demand.
