The number of dairy cows in the European Union is predicted to fall below 20 million in 2023. Compared to 2016, this reduction is 1.7 million heads, and from 2021 — 564 thousand.
The production of milk and feed throughout the EU was hampered by a drought that lasted throughout the summer of 2022 and caused an increase in production costs for energy, fertilizers and an increase in selling prices for raw milk.
