The increase in trade activity contributes to the increase in carrot prices on Ukrainian farms. That's according to Project EastFruit analysts.
According to the growers themselves, this root crop is now actively purchased by both wholesalers who store it and the population who stock it for the winter. Retail sales are also fairly stable.
Today, farmers in the main producing regions are shipping high-quality carrots at UAH 18-25/kg (USD 0.16-0.22/kg), which is an average of 12% higher than last weekend. However, industry experts point out that the tendency to increase prices is observed only in the segment of high-quality carrots purchased for storage.
It is worth noting that prices for high-quality carrots in Ukraine are currently 3.3 times higher on average than in the same period last year. At the same time, some producers plan to continue to raise prices for carrots, provided that current sales rates are maintained.
