After the decrease in the price of cucumber last week, the price has increased again, experts from the EasyFruit project report.
The cost of products began to rise due to the fact that the market is now represented by a small number of products and the demand for them is only increasing.
In the last two weeks, the number of cucumbers collected from the greenhouses has decreased, due to bad weather, while activity on the market has increased. Currently, farmers sell 1 kilogram of cucumbers for UAH 81-140, which is 16% more than a week ago.
Farmers explain such positive growth dynamics with several factors. Firstly, in recent weeks, the number of products from greenhouses has decreased due to bad weather, secondly, the import of these products from Turkey has decreased significantly, and sellers are taking advantage of this by raising prices, since there is now a very active demand for this type of product.
Currently, the price of products is on average 1.5 times higher compared to the same period last year. Also, experts add that after the weather conditions improve, the price may begin to decrease.
