The Ministry of Economy of Ukraine has adapted its rules for the preparation, filing, examination and international registration of trademarks to the requirements of the European Union applicable to Ukraine. The relevant decision of the Ministry of Economy was adopted on August 6, 2024, and on September 18 it entered into force, the press service of the ministry reports.
«The new rules are adapted to EU regulations and take into account Ukraine's international and European integration obligations, in particular under the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement. The rules regulate:
- who is entitled to file an application;
- the list of documents for the applicant;
- the procedures for filing international trade marks under the Madrid system of registration;
- the peculiarities of the examination of applications filed under national and international procedures.
The rules also:
- regulate the issue of submitting electronic applications and their examination;
- determine the procedure for verifying the fact of the application of sanctions against the applicant or the applicant state, as well as the legal consequences of the applied sanctions.
