«In October, we received approximately 4.4 thousand tons of pork, which is 50% higher than last month,» experts note. It also became known that for the whole of 2022, 42% more products were imported into the country, approximately 46 thousand tons, and its value increased by 57% and now amounts to 93 million dollars.
Most products come from such countries as: Spain, the Netherlands, Poland.
Experts report that the number of animals has been decreasing recently. For example, now the total number of animals is 5.3 million, but last year there were almost 6 million, that is, 13% more. The number of animals currently raised on farms is 3.3 million pigs.
Also, as reported by UKAB, the decrease in the number of animals happened precisely because of the war started by Russia, and partially occupied territories. Due to this, the slaughter weight decreased by 12%.
