According to the experts of the «Swine Farmers of Ukraine» association, our country has recently been sending the lowest possible amount of pork abroad.
So, last month approximately 505 tons or almost $1 million worth of products were shipped, which is a third less than in February, and three times more money was received in the same period last year, which is also the lowest figure for a month since
of 2018.
This situation is explained by the fact that since the beginning of January, products have become more expensive on the European market and now the price is about 2.35 euros or 2.55 dollars. But the cost of imported pork fell to $1.87 per kilogram, which is almost 6% less than last month, so the amount of products shipped is also gradually decreasing. Therefore, as long as this situation persists, imports will not increase.
We also note that in the first three months of 2023, the amount of imported pork amounted to approximately 3.15 thousand tons, which is almost 4 times less than in the same period last year.
