France and Romania will sign an agreement to increase the export of Ukrainian grain

12.09.2022 18:21

France and Romania are planning to sign an agreement to increase Ukraine's grain exports to developing countries, especially Mediterranean countries.

«Tomorrow I will sign an agreement with Romania, which will allow Ukraine to supply even more grain to Europe and developing countries, in particular the Mediterranean countries that need it for food,» said Minister of Transport Cleman Bon

Romania, the second largest exporter of wheat to countries outside the EU, including Egypt, after France and the largest exporter of corn, was one of the alternative routes for the export of Ukrainian grain.
According to the publication, in accordance with the agreement, France will invest in increasing the efficiency of the port of Galaţi and the arrangement of a border point in the north of Romania. In addition, it is planned to increase the carrying capacity of the port of Konstanz and the Surin Sea Route.
Reuters notes that this will help create a medium-term strategy for the export corridor between Romania and Ukraine and ensure the optimization of vessels carrying Ukrainian grain.

Ukrainian grain exports have plummeted since the start of the war due to Russia's blockade of Black Sea ports, sending world food prices soaring and raising fears of food shortages in Africa and the Middle East.
